Hydrogensulphide reacts relatively well to caustic soda. This property, when combined with a special gas/liquid exchange system, allows the application of a parallel-flow scrubbing process.
The system designed by Hürner Italia Srl offers considerable advantages under conditions involving treatment of large waste gases volumes, since the absorber can be operated with high gas flow velocity. This will then result in a smaller and more compact system design, finally allowing an overall low investment costs. Furthermore, for high concentrations of hydrogensulphide, it is also possible to recover natriumhydrogensulphide through the gas treatment process.
