FEP - Fluoroethylene-Polypropylene - offers excellent chemical resistance and a thermal stress range extending from -190°C to +205°C. The material has good dielectric properties, excellent resistance to UV radiation and exceptional mechanical stability at high temperatures. The transparency of FEP is unaffected by the presence of corrosive atmospheres, and it remains clear even after very long exposure times. Like all thermoplastic materials, FEP can be welded by means of a butt-welding process or with hot air and filler material. Pipes without polyester and fiberglass reinforcement are employed for conveying low-pressure gases, while with an adequate external reinforcement they can carry pressurized liquids. For this application, the Hürner Italia S.r.l. program includes pipes with an adequate external fiberglass anchor layer. Application of this material in our program is based on constructions prearranged for fiberglass coating, with the exception of liner pipes, which are intended for industrial ventilation usage without reinforcement.
Advantages of FEP
· Excellent chemical resistance
· Very wide working temperature range from -190°C to +205°C
· Good dielectric properties
· Good UV resistance
· Good stability at high temperatures
Chemical resistance FEP also offers excellent resistance to chemical products and is unaffected by contact with oxygen and ozone. Its characteristic transparency is unaffected even by weathering agents and it retains its original state unaltered for extended periods of time.
Welding process Since the main requirement is to join lining sheets, the process is carried out by hot air welding with suitable welding material (rod). However, it is also possible to use a butt jointing process for sheets and for ventilation pipes and/or pipes to be lined. For the welding parameters, please contact us to establish the values in accordance with the chosen welding process.
Sizing and conditions of use
Positive and negative pressures have not been specified for these pipes because they are not intended for use under pressure but rather for industrial ventilation or as liners for coating with fiberglass.
