PVDF - Polyvinylidene fluoride - and ECTFE - Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene - are thermoplastic materials that feature excellent mechanical properties and chemical and thermal resistance. They rank in the top section of thermoplastic materials as far as quality is concerned.
PVDF - polyvinylidene fluoride - is widely used in components, valves and semi-finished products that are transformed in the processes of semiconductor manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies, because of it contains no additives, a characteristic that guarantee very high purity and no pollution of the conveyed product. Because of this, PVDF is physiologically applicable according to 90/128/EEC Directives, is FDA - FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION - approved and is FM - FACTORY MUTUAL - homologated.
PVDF has achieved an important position in other industrial activities, like applications where temperatures are as high as 100°C. With the wide range of shapes and diameters, it has become a leading thermoplastics for solutions that so far had been reserved for specific metal alloys.
Of course, this material is not only used to convey chemical and/or pure liquids, but also flue gases, whose temperature under low pressure conditions can exceed 130°C.
The application field of ECTFE - Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene - , which is also marketed under the HALAR® trade name, is specific in the industry. It is resistant to a range of operating temperatures up to 150°C and is the only material that is chemically resistant to halogens.
Also ECTFE - Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene - complies with the requirements of 90/128/EEC Directive and is physiologically usable for food.
