PFA

PFA material comes in two types of execution in this document: as standard PFA and as highly pure PFA – HP.

Advantages of PFA
  • High chemical resistance
  • Very wide range of temperature of use from -190 °C to +260 °C
  • Smooth surface, low roughness value
  • Good anti-stick and non-reactivity characteristics
  • Good resistance to UV rays
  • Excellent stability at high temperatures
  • Good self-extinguishing value (UL 94 - V-O)
  • Excellent dielectric properties
  • Availability of highly pure surfaces
Chemical resistance

PFA is highly resistant to chemicals and remains unchanged in contact with oxygen and ozone. Its clearness is not affected by weathering, and retains its original state also after a long time.

Welding process

PFA is joined by hot air welding with filler material or by butt welding. If, on the contrary, PFA-HP must be applied, hot air welding with PFA-HP welding thread must be used. For IR welding, like butt welding of ventilation ducts, Hürner Italia S.r.l. can rent out automatic machines that are programmed for welding up to DN 2” or semiautomatic machines up to DN 4”.

Sizes and conditions of use

Neither positive nor negative pressure values have been defined for these pipes, since they are not destined to be used under pressure, yet in industrial ventilation applications, or like liner pipes with fiberglass lining. If these types are used for pressure applications, please contact our office for the definition of admissible pressure values
