PE 80 and PE 100 are thermoplastics and, in spite of their excellent characteristics, currently are the least used materials in industrial and civil ventilation systems. Their black color makes them very resistant to UV rays and consequently are suitable for installation outside of buildings, a benefit that is not common in many other thermoplastics. Operating temperature must not exceed 60°C for ducts under pressure or depression. The material features excellent characteristics against shocks, and also temperatures below 0°C do not affect its brittleness. Its low elasticity modulus gives it good resistance to abrasion.
The fire resistance rating of PE 80 e PE 100 is B2 according to DIN 4102 standard and 94-HB according to UL 94 standard, so this material is classified as not self-extinguishing.
The molded and formed fittings in the Hürner Italia S.r.l. ventilation line are made of PE 80, while pipes, whose size is up to OD 1400 mm, are made of PE 100. The line also includes silencers, deflector cowls, manually and pneumatically and electrically operated dampers, compensators, check valves and other components.
