The PE-HD (polyethylene at high density) ANTICOR thermoplastic liner for concrete box culverts, whose color is yellow as illustrated in the Hürner Italia Srl program, makes an effective and easy maintenance of the piping, possible for cleaning and repairs and/or general inspections of the piping functionality status.
The light inside the piping is strongly reflected by the lining, and the working conditions are enhanced and fully comply with the provisions on safety at work. With the two-color (yellow for the internal smooth side and black for the external side with studs) ANTICOR liner, any anomalous point or stain, which show a likely damage to the liner is easily visible, since the yellow color enhances all defects against the black background, something that would be not so easy to spot out with a one-color liner. This strong point is less useful during the manufacturing stage in the factory, but is very important during the installation in the work yard, since it helps to show up any abnormality that has occurred during the lay-out stage.
A partial lining made of strips positioned at the beginning and at the end of the box culvert, as it is currently offered on the market, is unacceptable, since the thermoplastic liner must fully protect the concrete from corrosion and not act as a seal between segments of box culverts. Good waterproofing, for example for pressure operation, can be only achieved if box culverts are fully, not partially, lined with thermoplastic liner, like those recommended by Hürner Italia Srl.
Initial and end strips that are put on box culverts do not prevent liquids to bypass, from inside and outside, the said strips and the very low profiles that fix them to the concrete, thus helping the inflow and outflow of liquid; therefore, it is physically impossible for this system to guarantee real tightness.
The standard extruded liner for box culverts is 3.0 mm thick and 2000 mm long and, upon request, can be made up to 5000 mm long. Every manufacturer of concrete products can find its most suitable length within this size range. Hürner Italia Srl supplies the prefabricated and inspected liner ready for use in the production line.
Liner shaping and welding operations are carried out in the Hürner Italia Srl factory, by fitting the liner to the shape and size of the box culvert, with 45° angles or corner less rounded. The ANTICOR liner is built using automatic butt welding machines and each weld is inspected; the manufacturer of the concrete product must only fit the liner to its mold.
